To Avoid Disconnect with Skidrow Release use this method
THE FIX (No Steam Connection error):
All you have to do is change your Steam nick to something with spaces in it. So if you were NullStrikes before, change it to NullStrikes PL and you won't get any errors. To change nick, open Steam. Go to File > Settings > Friends tab > Nickname

To Add a Friend into steam
to use steam add friend button without buying the game simply register to Zero Gear beta and activate the key on steam work for me
1. go here : http://myzerogear.com/beta/invite.php
2. enter your email and press send
3. check you email go to the link specified in email to get your key
4. go to LEGIT steam under my games and activate an product on steam
5. enter the cd key and have fun
